European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde announced that the bank may raise interest rates again or put them on hold at its next meeting, as the decision depends on the latest data.

Lagarde stressed, in an interview with the French daily Le Figaro published on Sunday, that no decision has yet been made on what the European Central Bank will do at its meeting on September 14.

Christine Lagarde underlined that "inflation must permanently return to the target set," stressing that decisions will be based on the latest economic and financial data.
