‏Singapore recorded its highest temperature of 37 degrees Celsius on Saturday, marking the highest temperature in 40 years.

The Straits Times reported, "The highest temperature of 37 degrees Celsius was recorded, the highest this year so far, in Ang Mo Kio. This is the highest temperature recorded during the month of May, surpassing the temperature recorded in May 2022 of 36.7 degrees Celsius in Admiralty.”

The National Environment Agency wrote on its social media page on Facebook, "This is the highest daily temperature recorded, as the last time a similar temperature was recorded in Tengah was on April 17, 1983."

The agency added that temperature records began in Singapore in 1929.
