The "Oak Chains" project has received the Green Building Accreditation (EDGE) for Excellence in Design for Higher Efficiency, which is accredited by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), one of the institutions of the World Bank Group to distinguish green buildings. 

The project was granted this accreditation after its success in reducing the carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions resulting from the operation of the building by more than 50 percent, through environmental design procedures and raising the efficiency of lighting, air conditioning and water systems in the building. 

The General Manager of Al-Saraya for Housing Projects and Investment, Eng. Jamal Badran, said in a statement today, Saturday, that the project implemented by the company is the first housing project to receive this accreditation, in support of the developer's vision towards building environmentally friendly and pioneering housing at the level of the region, and confirming the developer's commitment with the principles and standards of sustainability in its buildings and operations. He pointed out that the project, which is located in the Dabouq area in Amman, consists of eight villas; It is the first residential community to obtain an international certificate in green construction in the Kingdom. 

Badran indicated that accreditation is an important criterion for green building, and an effective system in more than 170 countries around the world, as it focuses on identifying the most cost-effective options for designing green buildings suitable for the local climate, in terms of rationalizing energy consumption, optimal use of water, and the use of building materials with an impact. Less on the environment. 

He added that "obtaining the accreditation is a step within a comprehensive strategy adopted by the company to provide distinctive housing in terms of construction, improving the quality of life for its residents and taking into account savings in energy and water consumption," explaining that this system will be adopted in future buildings, to be environmentally friendly and implement strategies and regulations. 

And technologies that serve the environment and enhance the sustainability of its natural resources. For her part, the founder and general manager of "Adaa for Sustainable Development Consulting", Maysoon Khraisat, who contributed to defining the accreditation procedures, said; It is possible for many commercial and residential buildings in Jordan to be more sustainable by adopting inexpensive and economically feasible measures, pointing out that the project succeeded in achieving a savings in energy consumption by 51 percent, and in water consumption by 43 percent, despite it being an investment project. 

The project took into account the environment in which it is located, as all the original trees that were on its land were preserved, and a large number of plants that will be irrigated with water that will be recycled within the project were planted within a comprehensive water recycling system. It is noteworthy that the building was approved for obtaining an "EDGE" certificate after an international evaluator attended the project site to inspect all the energy and water efficiency measures applied in it, and to approve its authenticity and documented veracity.
