The United States recorded 2,378 new coronavirus deaths and 277,346 new cases, a running tally by the Johns Hopkins University showed Sunday, according to the Washington Post.

The death toll in the US, the world’s most affected country by the pandemic, reached 349,920, while the infection tally hit 20.38 million, the university’s data said.

The United States began its vaccination campaign on December 14, as more than 4.2 million people have received the vaccine so far across the country.
