The Chinese mainland has reported 22 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 8 locally transmitted infections, over the last 24 hours, the National Health Commission (NHC) said on Saturday.

Seven of the locally transmitted infections were reported in Northeast China's Liaoning province, and 1 in Beijing, the commission said in its daily report.

To date, the total caseload on the Chinese mainland has reached 87,093 by Friday,and the death toll remaind at 4,634 as a result of the virus, according to the commission.
