House speaker meets Qatari Ambassador

Lower house Speaker of Atef Tarawneh on Tuesday received Qatar's Ambassador to Jordan Sheikh Saud bin Nasser Al Thani.

Tarawneh said Jordan and Qatar, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II and his brother HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, enjoy strong brotherly ties and relations based on mutual respect.

"We in Jordan are keen on advancing relationships between Amman and Doha, in the interest of the two countries and brotherly peoples," Tarawneh added.

He stressed the importance of the joint parliamentary coordination between the two countries.

He lauded the understanding and rapprochement with the Speaker of the Qatari Shura Council Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud, especially with regard to the Palestinian issue and defend it in various international parliamentary forums.

The Qatari ambassador reaffirmed the deep rooted ties between Jordan and Qatar under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II and his brother HH Prince Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and their common concern to achieve the interests of the two brotherly countries and the Arab and Islamic nations.

He expressed his keenness to deepen ties between the two countries and reach levels that achieve the desires and aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.

"Doha highly appreciates Jordanian positions on issues of our central nation, especially the Palestinian issue," he added.

The ambassador expressed his country's appreciation of Jordanian competencies and capabilities in Doha and its role in the development process.

He noted that continuing bilateral cooperation and coordination would overcome obstacles to various challenges.
