Irbid's exports up by 37.4 pct in February at JD76 million

Revenues of Irbid governorate's exports in February highly increased by 37.4 percent reaching JD76 million compared with the same period last year, mainly driven by textile and leather industries, according to the monthly report of Irbid Chamber of Industry (ICI) .

Al-Hassan Industrial Estate ranked first in total exports, with a value of $66.5 million, and the Cyber City Industrial Estate's exports hit $6.4 million, the report said.

The figures also showed that the value of exports according to the Arab Trade Agreement reached about $6.2 million.

Exports of leather, textile, foodstuff products, engineering, electrical, mining, natural, construction, chemical and cosmetic and plastic, in addition to rubber industries increased in February, while the exports of packaging, medical supplies dropped.

President of Irbid Chamber of Industry, Hani Abu Hassan, said the US market was the biggest importer, reaching more that 80 percent of Irbid's exports, while Arab markets accounted for 8.2 percent of total exports.
