Jordan to Aid Needy Families, Settle Debts During Ramadan

Jordan's Ministry of Awqaf (Islamic Affairs) has announced a comprehensive plan to support vulnerable families and individuals throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

Minister Mohammad Al-Khalaileh revealed that the initiative includes settling the debts of over 100 indebted women and distributing Zakat al-Fitr (charity given to the poor at the end of Ramadan) to those who are eligible.

The Zakat Fund has developed a plan for charitable activities during Ramadan, including the distribution of 12,000 coupons, each worth 30 Jordanian dinars, totaling 360,000 dinars, to impoverished families, according to Al-Khalaileh.

Furthermore, the plan encompasses the distribution of 40,000 food parcels through Zakat committees across Jordan, supported by the Zakat Fund and donations, to reach deserving families in various regions of the Kingdom.

Cash gifts will also be provided to impoverished families and orphans who receive monthly assistance from the Zakat Fund during Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan.

Throughout Ramadan, 15 productive rehabilitation projects, valued at 25,000 dinars, will be delivered in different regions of the Kingdom, alongside the renovation and maintenance of 10 homes at a cost of 45,000 dinars.

In collaboration with Zakat offices and committees, an Iftar banquet will be held for approximately 3,000 orphans and their families across the Kingdom's governorates, coinciding with the Islamic World Orphans Day on the 15th of Ramadan.

The ministry's Ramadan plan includes a focus on mosques, preaching, and guidance, as well as hosting Hashemite scholarly gatherings under royal patronage every Friday during Ramadan, with the participation of scholars from within the Kingdom and abroad, Al-Khalaileh noted during a meeting with journalists.
