Minister of Education, CEO of Orange Jordan Visit School Under Kingdom’s First of its Kind “Digital Schools” Program

The Minister of Education and Human Resources Development, Prof. Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, accompanied by the CEO of Orange Jordan, Eng. Philippe Mansour, visited Sumaya Primary Mixed School in Zarqa Governorate, one of the schools benefiting from the "Digital Schools” program, to closely observe its implementation and track its positive, sustainable impact on students. The Executive Vice President of Communication at Orange Group, Deputy Chair of the Orange Foundation, Caroline Guillaumin, the Managing Director of the Orange Foundation, Hafida Guenfoud, the Director of Madrasati, Tala Sweis, and the Chief Corporate, Internal Communications, & Sustainability Officer, Eng. Rana Al Dababneh, took part in the visit along with several company representatives.

The "Digital Schools” program was launched in September 2025 as part of a partnership between the Orange Foundation and "Madrasati” initiative to develop education and empower future generations. In its first phase, the program equipped 10 public schools across governorates, including Irbid, Zarqa, and Tafilah, with 15 digital educational packages, each containing 25 tablets alongside 30 additional digital learning devices such as computers, projectors, routers, and modern technologies such as Raspberry Pi. More than 3,100 students from grades one through six benefited from the program alongside 136 teachers. The program also covers comprehensive digital educational content, and utilizes Kutubee interactive platform, which features over 1,200 books designed to enhance students’ Arabic and English reading skills and broaden their learning horizons. The program further strives to empower teachers and students to use digital tools effectively, while ensuring an encouraging learning environment focused on critical thinking and digital skills development, ultimately promoting digital inclusion and making the educational experience more engaging and meaningful for everyone.

The Minister of Education and Human Resources Development, Prof. Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, emphasized that the "Digital Schools” program has successfully created an educational environment that integrates technology into students’ learning process, signifying an ideal model of distinguished public-private partnership, implemented by the Orange Foundation in cooperation with Madrasati initiative and the Ministry, represented by Queen Rania Al-Abdullah Center for Education and Information Technology. He highlighted the initiative’s positive impact in reinforcing technology utilization inside classrooms while raising students’ confidence through their active participation in the WikiChallenge to produce Arabic digital content. He also affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to setting developmental visions and aligning initiatives with civil needs, appreciating for the private sector’s role in transferring expertise and modern technologies, and expressing his aspiration to expand the scope of the initiative to include more schools in the future.

From his side, the CEO of Orange Jordan, Eng. Philippe Mansour, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to its corporate responsibility and its role as the true responsible digital leader, in line with Jordan’s vision for digital transformation. The right tools, in the right hands, can make a big difference for both students and teachers in building the digital skills that will shape their future. Eng. Mansour commended the partnership with Madrasati, whose deep knowledge of Jordan's schools has been key to these results, and encourages the company to continue supporting digital education alongside the Ministry.

The Director of Madrasati, Tala Sweis, commended the partnership with the Orange Foundation, adding that the Digital Schools model proves that the combined efforts between the public sector, private sector, and civil society can make a real difference in students’ lives. Moreover, addressing digital illiteracy today is no less urgent than teaching reading and math, which is what Madrasati initiative seeks to establish by aligning its programs with the Ministry of Education’s digital transformation plan within its strategic vision.

Notably, the Digital Schools program in Jordan draws on the international expertise of the Orange Foundation as the initiative has reached more than 1,700 schools in 18 countries where Orange operates, bringing digital content and teacher training to communities with limited access to educational resources.

Furthermore, Orange Jordan and the Orange Foundation prioritize community service through a comprehensive corporate social responsibility strategy, centered on four main pillars: digital education, digital inclusion, entrepreneurship, and climate and environment, to promote sustainable community development and drive positive social change.
