Apple iOS 18 Update Aims to Boost Battery Life on iPhones
Apple is planning to significantly improve battery life for iPhones with its upcoming iOS 18 update, even on older devices, according to a Bloomberg report. The tech giant is focusing on optimizing the system's core code to achieve this.
The update will involve cleaning up the source code, removing remnants from previous iOS versions, and rewriting code related to app features to reduce battery consumption, the report said.
Apple also intends to upgrade some applications to make them faster and more responsive. Improvements to the system interface are also planned to enhance responsiveness.
Separately, MacObserver reported widespread complaints from Apple users regarding poor battery performance since the release of iOS 17. Social media platforms were flooded with concerns immediately following the system's launch in September 2023, the report noted.
Users have observed their phones overheating when executing multiple commands or during prolonged use, leading to slower performance, according to MacObserver.
Past updates have significantly impacted iPhone battery life, with users reporting declines in battery health immediately after installing new updates.
The company is also preparing to launch new products, including the first MacBook Pro with a touch screen and a foldable iPhone, which is expected to have the largest battery among all of Apple's phones.
The upcoming iOS 18 is expected to have no negative impact on battery health, preserving it from further degradation.
