The International Energy Agency (IEA) is actively monitoring developments in the Middle East and their potential repercussions for global oil and gas markets, according to IEA chief Fatih Birol.

The agency remains in close contact with key producing nations in the region as well as IEA member governments to assess the evolving situation.

Birol emphasized that oil and gas markets have, to date, remained well-supplied.

The IEA's statement underscores the heightened vigilance surrounding potential disruptions to energy supplies stemming from ongoing geopolitical tensions.
