Jordan's Culture Ministry Extends Ramadan Events Across Governorates
Jordan's Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Jerash Festival, is extending its "Ramadan Evenings" program into its second week, offering a diverse array of cultural and artistic activities in cultural centers across the governorates.
These events, which run every Thursday and Friday throughout the holy month from 9:30 PM to 12:00 AM, aim to highlight Jordanian cities as vibrant destinations where spirituality, entertainment, and community engagement converge to promote unity, reflection, and blessings.
The program features poetry evenings with prominent Jordanian poets, performances by religious chanting groups from Jordan and other Arab countries, and entertainment for children, alongside artistic presentations by Jordanian artists.
In Amman, the Royal Cultural Center hosted a poetry evening featuring poets Dr. Iman Abdulhadi and Taysir Al-Shamaseen, presented by poet Dr. Ali Al-Shawabkeh. The evening continued with competitions for children and adults, which were well-received by the audience.
The main segment featured artist Majd Ayoub, who performed songs inspired by Jordanian and Levantine music. The King Abdullah II Cultural Center in Zarqa also hosted a spiritual Ramadan evening as part of the "Ramadan Evenings," where the Anwar Al-Huda group performed selections from the Prophet's biography in an atmosphere of tranquility and beauty.
In Irbid, Egyptian chanter Ahmed Al-Omari presented religious invocations and songs, including "I Intended to Reach You from All Directions," "Peace and Blessings Be Upon You," "People of the House," and "My Heart Tells Me You Are My Destroyer."
Al-Omari also performed a variety of original religious melodies, including "My Master, I Am at Your Door" and "Soul, O Breeze, Greet the Light and Guidance," captivating the audience with his performance.
The governorate of Mafraq hosted a poetry evening featuring poets Mohammad Al-Amoush and Jasser Al-Bazour, with Warda Saeed as presenter and participant, also including musical performances by artist Bashar Al-Sarhan.
The Musa Al-Saket Cultural Center in Salt saw citizens attending Ramadan Evenings events. The activities began with a chanting evening by singer Saleh Al-Khalaileh, a segment by young talents from the Arab Child Forum, and folk games presented by the Durrat Al-Balqa Association. A plastic art and Arabic calligraphy exhibition, a cultural-religious competition with prizes, and an exhibition of Ministry of Culture publications were also featured.
In Madaba, a poetry and music evening was held, attended by representatives from the Ministry of Culture, including the Director-General of the National Library, Firas Al-Darabseh, and the Director of Culture of Madaba, Mohammad Al-Rawahneh.
Poets Saeed Yaqoub, Ahmed Al-Daqas, and Iman Ziada recited poems reflecting the spirituality of Ramadan, as well as nationalistic verses. Artist Ghada Abbasi performed national and heritage songs, engaging with the audience at the Madaba Grand Municipality Hall.
In Tafila, the Ramadan Evenings events began at the Tafila Reconstruction Foundation with a poetry evening managed by Dr. Atef Al-Ayaydeh, featuring poets Mohammad Al-Ajarmeh and Zakaria Al-Zaghameen, who recited poems in various styles, including Nabataean poetry.
The evening continued with a musical performance by artist Samer Anwar, who presented a selection of national songs, creating an atmosphere of joy and interaction.
The Culture Ministry also held theatrical performances in correctional and rehabilitation centers in coordination with the Public Security Directorate. An Iftar banquet was also organized for the children of the Um Al-Hussein Orphanage, including artistic and recreational segments. An Iftar banquet was held at Darat Samir Shamma for elderly care, attended by residents of the home, a representative of the Minister of Culture, Nidal Al-Ayasra, and the Executive Director of the Jerash Festival, Ayman Samawi.
Residents of the home interacted with the segments, expressing their joy. Organizers at Darat Samir Shamma praised the efforts of the "Ramadan Evenings" program, aimed at promoting social and humanitarian values and fostering tolerance and communication.
The Ministry of Culture, in cooperation with the Jerash Festival, continues to present its Ramadan program, "Ramadan Evenings," throughout the Kingdom, with entertainment and educational segments for children and families, contributing to the values of the holy month.
