Kuwait's army announced the death of a member of its naval forces while on duty, according to a statement released Monday.

The General Staff of the Army mourned Sergeant Walid Majid Suleiman, a member of the naval force, according to a statement reported by the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA). The statement indicated that Suleiman died Monday evening “while performing his duty within the framework of the national tasks assigned to the armed forces.” The army did not disclose the circumstances surrounding his death.

This marks the second fatality in the oil-rich Gulf state following the announcement of a civilian death Sunday.
