Ahmad Vahidi Appointed Commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guard Following Top Generals' Deaths

Ahmad Vahidi has been appointed as the new commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guard, according to Iranian media reports.

The appointment follows the reported deaths of several high-ranking Iranian military officials, including the Revolutionary Guard's commander, Mohammad Pakpour.

Iranian state television reported that Mohammad Pakpour, along with other commanders, were killed in strikes on Tehran during a meeting of the Defense Council. The strikes also reportedly killed Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Abdul Rahim Mousavi; Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh; and advisor to the Iranian Supreme Leader, Ali Shamkhani.

The reported strikes were attributed to joint Israeli-U.S. operations.
