Xiaomi Unveils Vision Gran Turismo Concept Car

Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has unveiled its latest electric vehicle concept, the Vision Gran Turismo, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC). The concept car is part of the Gran Turismo initiative, launched by Kazunori Yamauchi, creator of the PlayStation game series.

Xiaomi becomes the first Chinese company to participate in the initiative by revealing its concept. The Vision Gran Turismo project celebrates the 15th anniversary of the racing game series and aims to answer Yamauchi's question to various companies: "Can you design your ideal version of a GT car?"

While the Vision Gran Turismo remains a concept that may not be commercially available in its current form, it builds on the success of Xiaomi's first electric car, the SU7, which received over 300,000 pre-orders in a few days.

The new Xiaomi car is built on the company's 900-volt silicon carbide platform, featuring a dynamic design to reduce air resistance, scissor doors, and a large carbon fiber rear wing.

The car boasts a futuristic design and a powerful engine producing nearly 1,900 horsepower.

Xiaomi has worked to develop a system that utilizes the car's design and airflow to maintain stability on curves at high speeds and cool the engine more efficiently. Yamauchi described the car as a new gold standard in modern cars.

The company has also created a new interior concept called "Sofa Racer," which integrates all components of the cabin to resemble a traditional living room.

The car embodies the philosophy of integrating modern control technologies, whether through a touch screen or voice commands, and is compatible with the Xiaomi smart home system.

The unveiling of Xiaomi's new concept follows its success in the electric vehicle sector, with the company shipping over 400,000 cars last year, which also marked the unveiling of the SU7.

This success strengthens Xiaomi's position as a leading electric car company.
