the Signing Ceremony of the Grant for the “THE PROJECT FOR STRENGTHENING CAPACITY OF POWER SYSTEM OPERATION”



The Government of Japan has decided to provide a grant of approximately US$ 6.5 million to the Government of Jordan through Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the Project "Strengthening Capacity of Power System Operation”.
In continuation with the Exchange of Notes signed by H.E. Ms. Zeina Toukan, Jordan Minister of Planning and International Cooperation and H.E. Mr. Hayashi Yoshimasa, Japan Minister for Foreign Affairs on September 3, 2023, the Grant Agreement was signed by Ms. Toukan, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation on behalf of the Government of Jordan, and Mr. Wakui Junji, JICA Chief Representative in Jordan.
The project aims to enhance power system operation through replacement of existing protection relays with high performance digital protection relays in core substations, thereby contributing to stable and reliable electricity supply in Jordan.
Stability of the power system is an essential for promoting integration of variable renewable energy, especially in Jordan, which has been rapidly integrating renewable energy.
