Arab Potash issues its first sustainability report for the year 2020

Arab potash recently released its first annual sustainability report for 2020, which was prepared in line with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards and guidelines, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030.


This report comes within the framework of Arab Potash's strategy to integrate sustainability into its main business, and within the scope of its disclosures, which in turn leads to enhancing the scope of its business and building successful business relationships, reducing risks, creating innovative products and services, stimulating sustainable growth, improving customer satisfaction and enhancing customer satisfaction.  positioning the company, increasing its brand value, and meeting the expectations of internal and external stakeholders.


Thanks to its strategic plan for the years (2021-2025) and its plans to face the risks set by the executive management, Arab Potash managed to overcome the challenges imposed by the Corona pandemic during 2020, as the company achieved great success at all its operational levels, ensuring the continuation of its production and export operations, in addition to implementing  The business is on the ground smoothly and flexibly, with its commitment to the decision to work with the minimum number of manpower imposed by the Jordanian government, within the framework of great care and not to jeopardize the safety of the company’s workers.  According to the report, the sustainability approach to the work of Arab Potash is based on 5 pillars, namely;  Good governance, robust risk management, responsible production, talent development, positive social impact and customer service for a better financial future.  The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Potash Company, Engineer Shehadeh Abu Hadaib, said: "Our first sustainability report illustrates the company’s performance on various economic, environmental and societal levels, highlighting our commitments to what was stated in Jordan’s Vision 2025 and our contributions to the sustainable development goals.  

Our strategic priority list, especially after the executive management developed a five-year strategy that confirms our aspirations to develop a safe work environment for our employees and company contractors, while affirming our commitment to protecting the environment, caring for our local communities, and contracting with local suppliers.”  Eng. 


Abu Hadaib explained that the work of the Arab Potash Company is directed towards contributing to achieving comprehensive and sustainable development, which will lead to achieving growth in the future and improving job opportunities for Jordanians, noting that the company’s social responsibility programs supported the government’s efforts in its response and better to deal with the repercussions of the Corona pandemic, as it donated  The company has made an amount of (20) million dinars to the "Himat Watan" fund, which is the largest donation at the level of Jordanian private sector companies, in addition to the company's donation of (10) million dinars to implement social responsibility programs.  Abu Hadeeb reviewed the company’s efforts in public safety and maintaining the health and safety of its employees, as well as its efforts to preserve the environment and reduce emissions from the company’s factories in 2020 by 6.5% from 2019, and reduce water use by 9% compared to 2019. For his part, he stressed  The CEO of the Arab Potash Company, Dr. Maen Al-Nusour, stressed the importance of sustainability for the operations of "Arab Potash”, indicating that it is an integral part of the company’s strategy for the years (2021-2025), which was developed to help the executive management seize new opportunities and expand the achievements.  Among the factors that helped "Arab Potash" to overcome the dangerous repercussions caused by the Corona pandemic on various companies in the world, most notably;  The dynamism of the company’s operations, responsible leadership, and strict commitment by employees, which helped maintain a strong and distinguished financial performance for the company, indicating that work is currently underway to prepare a ten-year strategy to diversify energy sources that will support the company in achieving its goals related to energy management and reducing costs  consumed through the use of renewable energy.  Dr. Al-Nsour touched on the efforts made to provide the water necessary for the company's operations during the next ten years, and its efforts to preserve the environment and reduce carbon emissions in accordance with all environmental standards, rules and relevant regulatory laws.
