Iraq announced the addition of 23 billion standard cubic feet and six billion barrels of oil to its national reserve on Monday.

In a statement made yesterday, Iraq's oil minister, Hayyan Abdul Ghani, claimed that the ministry had conducted oil explorations in desert regions and had been successful in bolstering the country's hydrocarbon wealth reserves.

These initiatives had increased the nation's hydrocarbon stockpile by 32 billion standard cubic feet and 6 billion barrels of crude oil during the previous few years.

Abdul Ghani noted that the Oil Exploration Company's seismic teams had successfully increased their activities in the Western Desert from the Anbar governorate, as well as some areas in Nineveh, Najaf, Muthanna, and Dhi Qar governorates, over the previous period.

They had also traveled thousands of kilometers to gather information from the areas covered by the seismic survey in accordance with the ministry's plans.
