54% of workers in the tourism sector globally are women

The World Travel and Tourism Council revealed that 54 percent of the workforce in the tourism sector are women, while one woman holds the position of Minister of Tourism out of every 5 tourism ministers in the countries of the world.

In a statement, On Sunday, the Council affirmed that the female component plays a pivotal role in the tourism industry all over the world, pointing to the participation of many inspiring women in the humanitarian, governmental and business fields in the 22nd World Summit of the World Travel and Tourism Council, which will kick off in Riyadh this week.

And he indicated that the participation of such inspiring leaders in the World Summit of the World Travel and Tourism Council, such as former British Prime Minister Theresa May, Her Highness Princess Haifa Al Saud, CEO of the "Healing" Hotels Group, Anne Pejing, and the global CEO of Hotels and Guest Houses Gilda Perez Alvarado  It will contribute to enhancing the importance of empowering women in decision-making and leadership in the travel and tourism sector.

According to the statement, Her Highness Princess Haifa Al Saud, Saudi Deputy Minister of Tourism, said: "Tourism is one of the few global industries in which women constitute the majority of the workforce, and our young people who are passionate about travel will achieve their future aspirations in various fields, as entrepreneurs, leaders and innovators in the fields of hospitality and culinary arts.”.

She stressed that supporting and inspiring women is a cornerstone for the future of the travel and tourism sector, indicating that no other sector like tourism has this many opportunities for young people, and therefore the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has invested heavily and intensively in training with the aim of enabling young people to have many job opportunities in the tourism sector.

The summit will witness the participation of former Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Patricia Espinosa, Italian Minister of Tourism Daniela Santanch, and Member of the European Parliament Elena Kontura.

These world-leading female personalities will participate in many discussion sessions at the World Travel and Tourism Council, along with leaders of the tourism industry and government representatives from all countries of the world, with the aim of uniting joint efforts to support the recovery of the sector in order to move to a future stage in which the travel and tourism sector is safer, more flexible and inclusive.  and sustainability.
