Madinah Governor Launches Projects to Rehabilitate Islamic History Sites in the Region

Al-Anbat - adinah, October 20, 2022, SPA -- Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Madinah Region and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Region Development Authority - in the presence of Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Head of Doyof (Guests) Al Rahman Program, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, and the Deputy Minister of Culture, Hamed bin Mohammed Fayez - launched projects to rehabilitate historical sites, implemented in more than 100 sites related to the Prophet’s biography and Islamic history, while the Tourist Destination Development Office at the Region Development Authority is responsible for following up on the completion of projects per the approved time plan until 2025.
Prince Faisal also inaugurated eight sites whose development has been completed, including; Al-Ghamama Mosque, Al-Sukiya Mosque, Al-Rayaا Mosque, Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, and Omar bin Al-Khattab mosques, the Banu Anif Mosque, Ghars well, one of the most important wells of the Prophet, and the Urwah bin Al-Zubayr Castle.
During the ceremony - which was held on this occasion - the Governor of Madinah region attended the signing of contracts, agreements, and memoranda of understanding among the region's development authority and several governments, private agencies, and the third sector, to develop and revive historical sites; Those included the design and implementation of the Sayed Al-Shuhada Square site, the Saqifah of Bani Sa’idah (west of the Prophet’s Mosque), the Khandaq site, the development of the Masjid Al-Qiblatain and the surrounding area, the Uthman bin Affan well, located in the lower part ofWadi al-Aqiq, and the archaeological well of Al-Faqir in Al-Madinah.
Prince Faisal bin Salman praised the level of performance and coordination between government agencies, to reach the objectives of projects to develop and activate historical sites, thanking the Ministry of Culture led by Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, and the Doyof (Guests) Al Rahman Program led by the Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, for supporting the working mechanism to enrich the experience of the pilgrims, visitors to Madinah, under the care of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and HRH the Crown Prince towards the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors.
Madinah Mayor and CEO of MadinahRegionDevelopment Authority Fahad Albuliheshi explained the plan to activate the historical sites, and an overview of the competition of the Region Development Authority that it announced to design and develop the historic Badr District, which includes the development of a path that includes more than 40 historical landmarks on the site, extending to around 175 km starting from Madinah, passing through Al-Areesh Mosque and Al-Rawhaa area, and several sites related to the most important events in the Prophet’s biography, all the way to the historical Badr area.
