On Tuesday, the
Russian government authorities announced the suspension of pumping Russian
natural gas to Europe through the Nord Stream pipeline until the third of next
September for maintenance work.
According to the
European Union's regulations on the integrity and transparency of the wholesale
energy market, the cessation of supply through the main line is linked to
repair work at the pumping station," the Russian state company,
"Gazprom", said in a press statement.
"At the same
time, a set of routine maintenance will be carried out in accordance with the
existing maintenance contract jointly with Siemens specialists," the company
added in the statement.
