Jordan is sixth in the Arab world and 64th globally on the Travel and Tourism Development Index

The "Tourism and Travel Development" index issued by the World Economic Forum for the year 2022 showed the rise and decline in the ranking of countries on the global index of development, tourism and travel.

According to the report, Jordan ranked sixth in the Arab world and 64th globally on the Travel and Tourism Development Index.

Jordan ranked 64th in the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTDI) at the level of 117 countries, MAY 2022, issued by the World Economic Forum in 2021.

In the context of tourism among the countries of the Middle East and North Africa, the UAE ranked first regionally and 25 globally with a score of 4.5 points. The index is based on many indicators, factors and policies that lead to the development, sustainability and flexibility of the travel and tourism sector, which contributes to economic and social development. Standards include business conditions, safety, health, infrastructure, natural resources, and environmental, social and economic pressures.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia rose in the ranking of countries on the global index of development, tourism and travel to the 33rd place globally, and the second globally after Indonesia in the number of advanced centers, as Indonesia was able to advance to 12 places in the index, according to the index. 

The "Tourism and Travel Development" index indicated that Japan came in first place, followed by the United States in second place, then Spain in third, France in fourth place, and Germany in fifth place, indicating that the global tourism sector is showing signs of recovery in many parts of the world after be severely affected by the Corona pandemic.

 

The report pointed out that total international tourism and business travel is still below pre-pandemic levels, and that the sector's recovery has been boosted by high vaccination rates, a return to a more open travel market, and increased demand for local and nature-based tourism.

 

The report showed that 117 countries accounted for about 96% of the global GDP for travel and tourism in 2020.

 

The ranks of the mentioned Arab countries were as follows:

1- The Emirates: 25th globally.

 

2- Saudi Arabia: ranked 33 in the world.

 

3- Qatar: ranked 43rd in the world.

 

4- Egypt: ranked 51st globally.

 

5- Bahrain: ranked 57th in the world.

 

6- Jordan: ranked 64th in the world.

 

7- Morocco: ranked 71st in the world.

 

8- Tunisia: ranked 81st in the world.

 

9- Kuwait: ranked 86th in the world.

 

10- Lebanon: ranked 94th in the world.

 

11- Yemen: ranked 116th in the world.
