Translated by - Dana Al-Shakhanbeh
The US Congress, in a final vote on Friday, approved Joe
Biden's huge climate and health plan, which represents an important political
victory for the Democratic president, less than 3 months before crucial
legislative elections.
The Democrats pushed their slim majority in the House of
Representatives is in the process of approving this plan, which increases valued
at $430 billion, after a similar vote In the Senate a few days ago.
This plan, which is supposed to put the country on the right
track to achieve its goals in terms of reducing greenhouse gases, still needs
Biden's signature to become law.
"Today the American people have won," Biden wrote,
adding that with this plan, "families will see lower drug, healthcare, and
energy costs."
For her part, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said before the
vote, "Today is a day of celebration," considering that this law will
allow American families to "prosper and for our planet persevere ".
In contrast, the Republican camp considers this text to lead
to unnecessary public expenditures, and former President Donald Trump, through
his Truth Social, has called on all Republicans to stand against the plan.
Nevertheless, the plan is the largest US climate investment,
worth $370 billion, with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 40%
by 2030.
It comes as a result of hard negotiations with the right
wing of the Democratic Party.
Under this reform, an American citizen gets about $7,500 in
tax credits when he buys an electric car.
And it gets 30% coverage when installing solar panels on its
roof.
The project also aims to strengthen the protection of
forests in the face of the intense fires that ravage the American West, and
whose breeding is due to global warming.
Also, several billion dollars in tax credits will be granted
to the most polluting industries to help them transition into the energy field.
