Ayman AlSafadi, the deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs and expatriate affairs, met with Nikolai Chioka, the prime minister of Romania, on Tuesday in Bucharest to discuss ways to improve the prospects for cooperation between the two nations in a number of areas, in collaboration with the European Union, and on matters of mutual interest.

AlSafadi is meeting privately with key Romanian officials, including his counterpart Bogdan Orisco, during the formal visit.

'I look forward to visiting my friend and colleague Minister Ayman AlSafadi, in Bucharest on Tuesday, to continue our discourse following my visit to Amman last year and increase the strength of our relations,' the Romanian foreign minister wrote in a tweet on his Twitter account.

The agenda of the visit included bilateral, economic, and sectorial cooperation, regional security, and global developments.

Since 1965, Jordan and Romania have maintained diplomatic ties. In 1974, both countries' capitals established embassy-level diplomatic missions and nominated resident ambassadors. Additionally, the Honorary Consulate of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan was reopened in Brasov, Romania.
