China: car sales rise 43%

Sales of Chinese brand passenger cars continued their rapid rise in June, up 43.1 percent year on year, data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said.

According to the association, sales totaled 994,000 passenger cars last month, accounting for 44.8 percent of China's total passenger car sales during the period.

Sales of domestic brand cars in the first half of this year rose 16.5 percent year on year to 4.89 million units, accounting for 47.2 percent of total passenger car sales in China during the period, 5.3 percentage points higher than the same period in 2021.

The association attributed the reason for the continuous expansion of the market share of Chinese brands this year to the efforts of automakers to boost competition through industrial upgrading, win more popularity among young consumers through careful market analysis, and gain support from local supply chains.
