The European Union and Orange Jordan inaugurated the "Orange Digital Village in Irbid” within the framework of the (Innovation Space) project, a three-year program, implemented with the support of the European Union through the "Innovation for Enterprise and Employment Growth” program "Jordan Innovation”, in the presence of the Head of the Trade Department The Economy and Infrastructure in the European Union Delegation to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Mrs. Serpa Tola, Mayor of Greater Irbid Municipality, Dr. Nabil Al-Kofhi, as Deputy Governor of Irbid, Assistant Governor, Mr. Rami Al-Badr,
President of Yarmouk University, Prof. Dr. Islam Massad, Dean of Hijawi College of Technology Engineering at Yarmouk University, Prof. Dr. Mowaffaq Al-Atoum, Director of the French Agency for Development AFD, Mr. Laurent Dorries, CEO of Orange Jordan, Thierry Marigny, and a number of executives and representatives of the media.

The new village in Irbid comes as a continuation of the programs of the "Innovation Space" project, after the recent opening of the Orange Digital Village in Aqaba to be an extension of the main digital village in the capital, each of which provides an integrated space that hosts a set of free digital Orange programs.

The Orange Digital Village in Irbid includes a programming academy that gives young men and women the opportunity to benefit from world-class interactive training on the most important programming languages ​​and skills required in the labor market and practical training in IT sector companies, embodying the concept of "training for employment", and a digital manufacturing laboratory Which provides learning about various fields of digital manufacturing and training on its equipment and devices, as well as the BIG by Orange program directed at accelerating the growth of entrepreneurship, which seeks to support entrepreneurs in their innovative projects.

During his attendance at the inauguration, Orange Jordan CEO, Terry Marigny, stressed the company's keenness to include the various regions of the Kingdom with free digital programs that would enhance the opportunities of young people in the labor market, provide them with the necessary skills and support ambitious entrepreneurial companies, especially in governorates with high population density and characterized by energies. Youth such as Irbid, praising Orange’s partnership with the European Union to continue implementing the "Innovation Space” project, which expands the circle of beneficiaries of digital education and contributes to empowering them.

And Marigny indicated that the company harnesses its resources to increase employment opportunities in line with the requirements of the labor market in its various sectors, especially the digital ones, whose importance is increasing significantly, as well as enabling the beneficiaries to launch feasible projects that support the digital economy and community development, within the framework of Orange's comprehensive social responsibility strategy that continues to work It is based on your role as a leading and responsible digital provider.

Marigny thanked Dr. Nabil Al-Kofhi, Mayor of Greater Irbid, for his participation in the empowerment vision adopted by Orange and the European Union, and his efforts in facilitating the requirements for implementing the digital village project in Irbid in order to serve the region and its surroundings and enhance the skills of young men and women in the most sought-after fields. Pointing to the many projects and partnerships that the company continues to implement in Irbid universities and its various regions.

In the same context, Dr. Nabil Al-Kofhi confirmed that the municipality is working with all its capabilities and efforts to support and empower young people and empower their capabilities, as the Greater Irbid Municipality has established a youth empowerment unit a few days ago, which is concerned with supporting young people with their various ideas, and a special fund was established in this regard with the aim of adopting and developing any idea to have a large imprint .

Dr. Nabil Al-Kofhi thanked Orange Jordan and the European Union for this unique step, which is the right way to create and support a generation that can bring out all its talents.

The EU-funded "Innovation Space” project is expanding the scope of Orange digital projects to include the establishment of 9 digital community centers, 5 new programming academies, 5 manufacturing labs, 8 growth accelerators for start-ups and business incubators, as well as an innovation hub in the Orange Digital Village in Amman.

This initiative is a pioneering project in Jordan and a destination that brings together everything needed for digital creativity and entrepreneurial support, as it will introduce more young people to digital culture and develop their digital skills, in addition to nurturing the entrepreneurship sector by identifying important opportunities that will enhance the growth of the digital economy.
