EMRC receives ISO 31000 certification for risk management

The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) has obtained ISO 31000 certification, the international standard for risk management, after ensuring it had fully complied with the procedures followed in this field.

The certification was obtained through the SGS, a Swiss testing, inspection and certification company.

EMRC chief commissioner Raji Allaboun on Wednesday said that earning the certificate reinforces the Commission's ability to integrate risk management into its organizational structure, evaluate the effectiveness of preventive measures and continually improve the suitability and adequacy of the technical and administrative operations.

"In addition, the ISO 31000 certification will improve the Commission's best practices in risk management concepts, through boosting the staff's internal networking and communication," he said
