Al-Anbat - Senate President, Faisal Al-Fayez, on Thursday, called for addressing any hindrances to investment in Jordan, whether they are internal or external investments, saying "it is not permissible for us to talk about investment obstacles without presenting quick solutions".

Al-Fayez made his remarks heading a meeting at the Senate of the Financial and Economic Committee, chaired by senator Jamal Al-Sarayreh, within its discussions of the draft laws of the general budget and budgets of government units for the fiscal year 2021.

He also pointed to the challenges facing Jordan at various levels and the importance of political reform, noting that the economic challenge remains the most prominent one in light of the current circumstances and the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Senate Speaker also called for adopting economic plans and programs with specific periods of time to alleviate poverty and unemployment, through launching major projects that employ the national workforce, such as renting the state’s arable lands to citizens and other projects including railways, the national carrier of the Red Sea water and its desalination, waste recycling, and expansion of the oil refinery, as well as other larger economically feasible projects including agricultural industries and globally demanded non-traditional crops.
