Al-Anbat -  State Minister for Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson, Ali Ayed, on Sunday, congratulated local radio stations on World Radio Day, celebrated every year on February 13.

During two separate phone calls to "Hala FM" and "Sawt Al-Ghad" radios, Ayed highlighted the role of Jordanian radio stations as 'beacons of awareness and culture,' pointing to their role to convey the state's message and respond to the Kingdom's and citizens' issues.

Radio stations, he pointed out, have been receiving great care, and have had the ability to spread and easily reach everyone, in light of the major technical development that has occurred over the past years.

Ayed also discussed the development in local radio stations, indicating that Jordan had one radio station, the Jordanian Radio, but now has around 42 radio stations. This indicates the diversity and development of the Jordanian media over the past fifty years, he added.

The state minister pointed to the key role many local radio stations have played during the COVID-19 pandemic. He said they conveyed the state's message, raised awareness on safety measures and urged the public to receive the vaccine, adding that radio programs were presented remotely and continued to provide services to citizens.

He underlined that the government monitors citizens' issues and their inquiries and follows them up across media outlets, stressing that it follows an approach of disclosure and transparency with the media by providing information to citizens.
