Al-Anbat - An Arab female journalists conference has called for providing legislative protection that criminalizes all forms of violence against women, including violence and discrimination against them in politics.

The Sixteenth Arab Women Media Conference, which Wednesday concluded on Dead Sea shores under the title: "Media in the Face of Violence against Women in Politics", underlined the need to train media professionals, especially those covering political affairs, to observe gender considerations in their reporting and ensure the media community be part of any networks or alliances supporting women empowerment in the public domain.

The conference, which was supported by the German development agency's (GIZ) "Strengthening Women in Decision-Making in the Middle East" program, also called for addressing the stereotyping of women in decision-making positions and clarifying to the public what constitutes violence against women in politics.
