Al-Anbat - Google is restricting all visitors from its headquarters in Mountain View and other offices in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York as the coronavirus spreads, a spokesperson confirmed on Monday.

"The company is also taking other steps, including recommending that employees in Japan and South Korea work from home, permitting employees in other locations to work remotely, and canceling all in-person job interviews," he added.

The mega technology company is also canceling its May annual developer conference, Google IO, which hosts thousands of IT developers from all over the world.

Meanwhile, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and two other large charities pledged up to $125 million to help speed the development of treatments for the fast-spreading coronavirus.

The effort will focus on new and repurposed drugs that can be used right away to treat patients infected with the novel coronavirus, and possibly other viruses in the future.
