The Jordanian-Egyptian parliamentary committee met with Egyptian Ambassador Sharif Kamel Monday morning to discuss relations between the two countries.

Nawaf Zyoud, head of the committee, stressed the importance of the historical, deep-rooted relations between Jordan and Egypt.

On a three-way summit between Jordan, Egypt and Iraq which was held recently in Cairo, Zyoud underscored the importance of the trilateral summit in enhancing joint Arab action and boosting trade and economic exchange between the three countries.

He said the parliamentary committee has worked closely with the Egyptian envoy to improve several issues of common interest including facilitating procedures on the Egyptian border, reducing export duties to Jordan, and activating the gas pipeline between the two countries.

During the meeting, Kamel said that ties between Cairo and Amman are "at their best," underscoring the committee's role in boosting relations.
