Jordan, Korea discuss cooperation in various fields

Al-Anbat -Senate President Faisal Fayez held official talks in Amman on Thursday with Speaker of the National Assembly of South Korea Mon Hee-Sang, on relations between the two friendly countries and ways of enhancing them, especially in the investment, parliamentary and religious and medical tourism fields.

Fayez praised the high level of relations between Jordan and South Korea, pointing out that Jordan is keen to further develop them in various fields in the interests of the two countries and peoples.

He called for more economic and investment partnerships between Jordan and Korea, and to take advantage of the investment opportunities available in Jordan in the fields of tourism, public transport, energy production projects and mining industries, stressing the importance of increasing the number of Korean tourists to Jordan, especially in the field of medical and religious tourism.

During the talks, Fayez spoke about the current situation in the region, adding that Jordan is the most affected country by the current events in the region by virtue of its proximity to Syria and Iraq.

He pointed out that Jordan was able to overcome conflicts and events in the region thanks to the wisdom of His Majesty King Abdullah II and the awareness of the Jordanian people.

The Senate president reviewed economic challenges facing Jordan due to regional conflicts and the presence of hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees in the Kingdom, calling on Korea and friendly countries to increase aid to Jordan.

He also called on the international community to work towards ending the Syrian crisis and fighting terrorism.

On the Palestinian issue, he stressed that resolving this issue based on the two-state solution and resolutions of international legitimacy is key to solving all regional crises.

For his part, the president of the Korean National Assembly praised the great role played by Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, in supporting the international efforts to end the conflict in the Middle East region and to achieve peace and fight terrorism.

He affirmed his country's support for the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II on resolving the Palestinian issue on the basis of the two-state solution and international legitimacy resolutions.

The Korean official praised Jordan's role in providing services to the Syrian refugees. He pointed out that, through the Korean parliament, he will work to provide more financial aid to Jordan and increase the investment projects in the Kingdom.
