King listens to Parliament’s responses to Speech from the Throne

Al-Anbat - Parliament presented on Wednesday its responses to the Speech from the Throne, delivered by His Majesty King Abdullah on 14 November to inaugurate the 18th Parliament’s second ordinary session.

The Senate’s response, delivered by Senate President Faisal Fayez at Raghadan Palace, affirmed the importance of the historic decision related to the areas of Baqoura and Ghumr, which reflects His Majesty's keenness to safeguard and protect the supreme national interests. 

In this context, Fayez described the King's step as a "brave historic" decision, which will restore the two areas' lands, and voiced support to His Majesty's steps to serve national interests. 

On the centennial celebrations, Fayez recalled the achievements of the Hashemite monarchs since the Founder King Abdullah I Ben al-Hussein, which brought about stability and prosperity to the Kingdom.

In this context, Fayez also cited the key role of the Arab Army in defense of Jordan, Palestine and the Arab nation as well as its efforts on the international level.

Fayez lauded the axes of the Speech from the Throne on the prevalence of the rule of law as a top priority and the need to root out corruption and safeguard state institutions against it, which requires addressing the nepotism and favoritism, activating accountability and monitoring, and enhancing integrity and its mechanisms.

On corruption, Fayez highlighted the King's focus on the people's awareness to fight this scourge, and warned of the consequences of rumor, smears and slander, which negatively affect the country's achievements. 

Fayez also lauded His Majesty's interest in the human asset to contribute to the prosperity of the Kingdom and to create the opportunities the people deserve to keep up with the fast developments worldwide.

Fayez voiced support o the King's vision of adopting a new economic model to stimulate growth, enhance financial and monetary stability and address debts within a clear and specific program that leads to a state of economic independence, which will create employment opportunities to address poverty and unemployment and promote confidence between citizens and state institutions.

On the Palestinian cause, Fayez said it remains His Majesty's first and most important priority as His Majesty is the Custodian of the Islamic and Christian sites, adding Jordan will maintain its unwavering stance in this context.
