The World Health Organization's (WHO) Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean on Sunday announced that 1.024.222 COVID-19 cases were recorded in the region.

Arab countries, in addition to Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran, reported a total of 655,142 recovery cases, while the overall death toll reached 23,449, the organization said in a statement.

Last Sunday, the Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, Ahmed Manzari, pointed out that not all countries in the region have the ability to report data systematically, making it difficult to pinpoint how the virus spreads and its severity.
